This shows two types of amaranth: "Golden giant" above and "love lies bleeding" just below it. Both are edible food plants, but they are more useful as "traps" for colorado potato beetles (big pests to tomato, eggplants, ground cherries). You can see all the holes in the leaves made by these critters.

 This is where I planted blueberry bushes. They're still there... inside the tomato plants, ground cherry plants, marigolds, and one Dill's Atlantic pumpkin vine.

"Garden peach"tomatoes , "Wapsinicon peach" tomatoes, red beefsteaks, white cherry tomatoes. That's a couple day's worth!

These are my two corn garden beds, which also contain mint, oregano, thyme, basil, ground cherry, watermelon, winter squash, red amaranth, marshmallow (Althaea officinalis), and goji (Lycium barbarum). One goji is about 4 ft tall -  they need a head start over fast-growing annual companion plants, otherwise they are starved for light. Same thing with lavender. 

Here's what I make the plants put up with. In this photo you can see the corn ("country gentleman"), marshmallow (flat leaves), ground cherry (bottom right, showing immature fruit), and the goji (its a stick in the top right corner).
